The State academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia

The Bolshoi Theatre is a historic theatre located in the capital city of Russia, Moscow. The company had its genesis back in March of 1776 and was initially a house for private performances until the acquisition of the Petrovka Theatre, post which it commenced producing plays and operas. It was imagined and designed by the very talented architect Joseph Bove and the theatre hosts performances of both ballet and opera.
The theatre was formerly known as the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow while the St. Petersberg Bolshoi Theatre which was demolished in the year 1886, was known as the Imperial Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre before the October Revolution. The Bolshoi Opera and Bolshoi Ballet are universally popular, having their names amongst the top and oldest opera and ballet companies in the world. The theatre has been rebuilt several times over its course due to a series of unfortunate events.
